Meet the American Girl WellieWishers

by Katie Wallace | Updated: July 15, 2016

The WellieWishers are American Girl’s newest collection of dolls, designed for girls ages 5 years old and older. These 5 friends each love dressing up, putting on shows, stomping in mud puddles, and being a good friend. We had the chance to check out the WellieWishers dolls Ashlyn and Camille. Each WellieWishers doll comes in a darling outfit that coordinates with their whimsical Wellie boots. I love each doll’s beautiful detailing and these dolls are just as well made as the classic American Girl dolls, with similar hair, faces, and features.

WellieWishers doll Ashlyn is a princess-in-training, accessorized with a fancy pink lacy top with gold lacing, tiered pink skirt trimmed with golden ribbon and a glittery waistband, and matching jeweled tiara. Her pink Wellie boots are detailed with white lace and resemble glittery gold Mary Janes. Ashlyn’s brunette hair is long and silky and she has big brown eyes and a smattering of freckles.

Camille loves the ocean, mermaids, and all things blue. Her glittery tee shirt and tie-dye print skirt is the perfect outfit for dancing around the beach. Her blond bobbed hair is accented with a coral starfish clip, contrasting her bright blue eyes and fair skin. She even has an adorable singular freckle by her eye! Camille’s outfit is my favorite, inspired by the sea with glittery “seaweed” trim on her deep blue top and aqua glitter tulle overlaying her colorful green, blue, and yellow skirt. Her teal Wellie boots have little orange fins, resembling cheerful little fish on her feet.

True to the American Girl brand, WellieWishers dolls appear in their own story book collection. These tales of friendship have the WellieWishers going on adventures, discovering exciting new things about the world, and sharing life together as friends. I’m very excited to read the new WellieWishers books to my daughters, who love pretending, dressing up, and playing together. Titles include The Riddle of the Robin, The Muddily-Puddily Show, and Ashlyn’s Unsurprise Party. These stories are filled with pictures and are short enough to read over the course of several bedtimes.

Each of the WellieWishers dolls come with stylish boots that match her personality and outfit. These 14.5″ plastic and vinyl dolls from American Girl are sized just right for younger girls, designed for ages 5+. They are also easy for little girls to dress by themselves.

Each doll has a hard plastic body that attaches directly to their head and cute little underwear under their outfit! WellieWishers hair is very comparable to the hair on American Girl dolls; close woven and made of high quality fibers.

WellieWishers dolls come in a classic doll storage box. These dolls are smaller than the traditional American Girl dolls but have the same high quality details.

No two WellieWishers dolls are alike! This new collection of friends from American Girl includes Camille, Emerson, Willa, Kendall, and Ashlyn, each with their own personalities, interests, and dreams.

Camille adores the ocean — and she’s mellow as a mermaid. She’s the one her friends turn to when they need someone to listen.

Emerson loves the spotlight — and the spotlight loves her right back. She loves to make her friends smile with funny jokes, original dance routines, and show-stopping songs.

Willa has a love for animals. She’s sure to be the first one up a tree — and the last to turn away a furry friend.

Kendall is creative—she’s always drawing and inventing. Leave it to her to patch friendly mix-ups with smiles, patience, and a handmade card.

Ashlyn is a princess-in-training (and party-planner extraordinaire). She’s just the one to turn a friend’s frown upside-down.

WellieWishers are a beautiful addition to the classic line of American Girl dolls. Extra outfits, accessories, and play sets are also available at AmericanGirl.com to build your WellieWishers doll collection.

Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo onl Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo only to discover it was closed on Mondays.

Thankfully, our family has gotten pretty good at pivoting when plans change. Instead of heading home, we set off on a mile-long walk to Centro Histórico Mérida and turned an unexpected detour into an adventure.

We explored local markets, enjoyed tacos and sopa de lima for lunch, and let the kids burn off energy at a park. The Mérida heat definitely called for a treat, so we stopped for fruit bars that cost just 40 pesos (about $2.50) each. We made it home just in time for Juliet’s nap!

Next time, we’ll check the zoo schedule before we go. But honestly, this unexpected change of plans turned into a pretty great day!

✨ Takeaways:

• Travel helps build resilient kids. When plans change, they learn to adapt, stay positive, and enjoy the adventure anyway.

• Some of our best experiences happen when things don’t go as planned. The zoo will still be there another day! 🦓🐊🦛

• We’re growing in Spanish every day. The kids are becoming more confident with pronunciation, casual phrases, and new vocabulary as we navigate life in Mexico.

💬 What do you want to know about our life in Mexico?

Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been cha Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been challenging and rewarding as we settle into life in Mexico with our 4 kids!

• We’re finding our new normal, discovering favorite stores, trying grocery delivery, getting used to air-drying clothes and doing dishes (no clothes dryer or dishwasher).

 • We’ve almost finished all steps for receiving our family’s permanent residency cards. Praying for successful completion!

 • Also experiencing frequent tropical afternoon downpours, magnificent and soaking! 🌴

 • Being without city water for 20 hours, which impacted washing dishes and taking showers. We used our rooftop water tank sparingly.

 • House hunting & touring several long term rental houses; we hope to find a good fit for our stay-at-home lifestyle and hosting too!

I keep reminding myself that we moved here! We’re not just visiting for a few weeks. 🤯😄

Overall, we’re grateful. ☀️🙂 It’s been a good first week, and we’re excited to continue settling in and discovering what life in Mérida has in store for our family!
