5 Reasons to Order Holiday Cards

by Katie Wallace | Updated: November 25, 2018

The holidays are a special time of year to connect with family and friends. Even if you don’t live close to everyone that has a special place in your heart, the holidays are a great opportunity to send out Christmas cards and family updates. Our family usually sends out a holiday photo card and we also love displaying all the cards we receive. It’s convenient and easy to order Minted Holiday Cards. Here are 5 reasons why it’s valuable to order annual Christmas cards.

Family photos will become timeless treasures

To order family Christmas cards you need to have a recent family photo on hand. Annual family photos are a wonderful way to capture each year of your family life, including each adorable (or awkward) stage your kids experience. Some families have fun with photoshoots and coordinate with a theme or dress up for comical family photos. You can generally find a photographer to accommodate any style you have in mind, from classic to whimsical to vintage and everything in between. You will cherish the family photos you have of your young children when they are much older.

Reasons why you should order holiday cards

Kids learn the value of making memories

Holiday traditions are filled with making and capturing memories. In a world with lots of hustle and bustle, it’s important to slow down and enjoy the moments. When you take the time to plan family photos and order your holiday cards, you teach your kids that preserving memories is important. When you receive your cards, you get a chance to share those memories with others!

Extended family members love seeing updates

I love receiving cards from our extended family and seeing how much everyone’s kids have grown. We make a Christmas card collage and display it though the holiday season. If you include a letter with your Christmas cards, you can share your family updates and accomplishments from the year. Kids are always learning, growing and trying new activities. Aunts, uncles and grandparents love receiving your family updates, especially if they don’t get to see all the accomplishments first hand.

Minted Holiday Ornament Cards

It’s easy to order personalized holiday cards

It’s so simple to order holiday cards from minted.com once you have your photos ready. Minted offers all sorts of customized printing services including Christmas cards, baby shower invites, wedding announcements and even wall art! You can choose from many holiday card styles that are designed by talented artists from all over the world.

Minted’s holiday card styles can display several photos, a single photo or no photo at all. You can also customize your card’s accent colors, paper type, die-cut shape and more! The user interface is simple, allowing you to customize the important elements of your card without overwhelming you with options.

Choose from hundreds of Minted holiday card styles

To customize your Minted holiday card, begin by choosing a style and uploading your family photo. Some of the full-photo card styles are overlaid with shimmery foil-pressed lettering. The foil detailing stands out and shines when you look at the card from different angles.

One neat Minted website feature allows you to preview a photo you’ve already uploaded in all of the Minted card styles, making it easier to choose a holiday card layout that will work best. You can crop and adjust your photo, choose from several card accent colors, and select from different colors of foil detailing (if applicable), different die cut shapes, and paper quality and weight. Just add envelopes, optional stamps and optional return addressing and you are ready to check out!

Minted Holiday Photo Ornament Cards

Minted will even send you a digital proof of your card before they print your order. You can make sure everything looks just how you expected before production starts.

Overall, I love the ease of ordering our Foil-Pressed Holiday Cards from Minted. I usually keep a few cards each year as keepsakes and we give the rest out to our friends and family.

Sharing cards helps build community

Giving Christmas cards to your friends and family and receiving some in return is a great way to build community. When we send annual holiday cards, we teach our kids the importance of keeping in touch with family that doesn’t live close by. Instead of just thinking about their Christmas wish list, my kids learn the value of thinking about loved ones during the holidays.

Minted made it very easy for us to customize and order our family’s holiday cards. We even got a few foil-pressed ornament cards. Each Minted card is designed by an independent artist and is printed with careful attention to the smallest detail. Both of our card styles came with foil-pressed accents that shimmer in the light. I am impressed with the printing quality that seamlessly integrates a family photo into each artistic card design.

There’s lots of great reasons to order holiday cards! The only question is, which holiday card style will you choose for your family?

I really liked the way you used your family photograph as Christmas tree ornament. We don’t really do holiday cards, in fact, we rarely do any physical cards…but, I think it’s the same case as with digital & physical books for book lovers.

We as a family don’t have a tradition to use and gift holiday cards as such. We would love to try ordering Foil-Pressed Holiday Cards this year. Looks too pretty.

great idea to make your cards into ornaments so they’ll be keepsakes vs thrown away at end of season.

Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo onl Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo only to discover it was closed on Mondays.

Thankfully, our family has gotten pretty good at pivoting when plans change. Instead of heading home, we set off on a mile-long walk to Centro Histórico Mérida and turned an unexpected detour into an adventure.

We explored local markets, enjoyed tacos and sopa de lima for lunch, and let the kids burn off energy at a park. The Mérida heat definitely called for a treat, so we stopped for fruit bars that cost just 40 pesos (about $2.50) each. We made it home just in time for Juliet’s nap!

Next time, we’ll check the zoo schedule before we go. But honestly, this unexpected change of plans turned into a pretty great day!

✨ Takeaways:

• Travel helps build resilient kids. When plans change, they learn to adapt, stay positive, and enjoy the adventure anyway.

• Some of our best experiences happen when things don’t go as planned. The zoo will still be there another day! 🦓🐊🦛

• We’re growing in Spanish every day. The kids are becoming more confident with pronunciation, casual phrases, and new vocabulary as we navigate life in Mexico.

💬 What do you want to know about our life in Mexico?

Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been cha Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been challenging and rewarding as we settle into life in Mexico with our 4 kids!

• We’re finding our new normal, discovering favorite stores, trying grocery delivery, getting used to air-drying clothes and doing dishes (no clothes dryer or dishwasher).

 • We’ve almost finished all steps for receiving our family’s permanent residency cards. Praying for successful completion!

 • Also experiencing frequent tropical afternoon downpours, magnificent and soaking! 🌴

 • Being without city water for 20 hours, which impacted washing dishes and taking showers. We used our rooftop water tank sparingly.

 • House hunting & touring several long term rental houses; we hope to find a good fit for our stay-at-home lifestyle and hosting too!

I keep reminding myself that we moved here! We’re not just visiting for a few weeks. 🤯😄

Overall, we’re grateful. ☀️🙂 It’s been a good first week, and we’re excited to continue settling in and discovering what life in Mérida has in store for our family!
