How to Order Personalized Holiday Cards

by Katie Wallace | Updated: November 21, 2016

One of my favorite things about the holidays is receiving cards from friends and family. I love seeing pictures of how much everyone has grown and photos of the new babies born each year. I ordered our personalized cards from Minted this year and I was impressed with the quality and vibrant details of our printed cards.

This feature was sponsored by Minted.com. All opinions are our own.

It’s very special to send out a personalized holiday card and keep some extras as keepsakes. When shopping for holiday photo cards, I look for quality, affordable pricing and design options. It’s definitely important to pick a company that’s easy to order my holiday cards from! Minted offers hundreds of photo card designs created by artists around the world and their website makes it very simple to order. With Minted, you can keep your holiday card as simple or be as creative as you’d like!

Minted personalized holiday photo cards

I ordered my holiday cards from Minted and received them within a few weeks. It’s best to order your cards early December so you can send them to family and friends in time for Christmas! Last year I had a baby a few days after Christmas and I ordered our cards late. Our Christmas cards ended up being New Year’s cards, but they included a “Welcome to the world!” baby boy announcement!

This year I had my sweet friend take our fall family photos in November. I uploaded them into Minted’s easy-to-use photo card template and I ordered adorable personalized photo cards in time for Christmas. I couldn’t choose a favorite card design so I picked a few styles. Another great thing about Minted’s custom card printing service is that you can mix and match your custom photo card order and check out in one easy process.

It’s Easy to Customize Minted Holiday Cards

Easily order your Minted holiday cards in a few easy steps. First, browse the many photo card designs Minted offers, each designed by a talented independent artist.

Sort & Filter: You can find your perfect card by sorting the card designs by number of photos, photo orientation, price and card format.

Find it Fast: This is my favorite Minted feature, you can upload a photo to the Minted website and see it previewed within all the card designs on the category landing pages. This means you can see exactly what your photo will look like within each card, without having to click on each product detail page. Genius! And time saving!

Minted customizable family photo cards

Design: Minted offers several options for designing the look of your holiday photo card for many of the card styles. In most cases you can choose from 3-4 color palette options that change specific colors within your card design. The Merry Christmas card I choose allowed for Gold Foil, Rose Foil, Silver Foil and Glitter Foil color options.

I also ordered some watercolor spray holiday photo cards. I had the option to choose from blue, green or red designs and I could choose different shapes for the frame.

Minted holiday cards are easy to customize and order

Customize: Once you select your perfect card design, you can easily drop in photos and crop them within the Minted editing page. If you don’t use a photo editing program, you can use the Auto Enhance function that increases the contrast of your photo a bit. The customize page is also where you can edit the text of your photo card within easy to edit text boxes.

Envelopes, Addressing Service, & Stamps: Each Minted card comes with an envelope if applicable. My foil-pressed photo postcards did not come with an envelope. Minted also offers an addressing service; you upload all your family and friends’ mailing addresses and the envelopes will come with the addresses already printed on them. Cool feature and also time saving! I plan on personally delivering many of my cards so I didn’t need this service this time. You can also order personalized stamps with your family photo or your child’s portrait on them. Minted has thought of everything!

Receive Holiday Cheer by Mail

I ordered my Minted photo cards and I was super excited to receive them in the mail. The final product fulfilled all expectations. These darling photo cards are printed with high resolution printing and gorgeous foil-pressed details. The standard stock paper I ordered is thick and smooth. If you sent a photo postcard though the mail, it would most likely arrive looking beautiful. I especially love the sparkly foil-pressed lettering.

Minted cards are made from thick photo paper, much thicker than card stock. You can also upgrade to premium paper including recycled, pearlescent, double-thick and triple-thick. I was impressed by the quality of the standard signature paper.

Minted holiday ornament photo cards

Minted Ornament Cards

Last but not least, Minted ornament cards are a creative way to share your photos with family and friends. These can go in the Christmas box and be used to decorate your family’s Christmas tree year after year. Ornament cards are also a perfect idea for baby’s first Christmas ornament.

You can easily keep these beautiful Minted printed ornaments looking nice by storing them in an envelope. Extended family will also cherish these beautiful photo ornaments for years to come. Minted’s custom card printing service offers lots of photo ornament designs for 1, 2 and 3+ photos. The ornament cards are also made from Minted’s thick signature paper.

Personalized holiday ornament cards from Minted

What will you order from Minted this year? Once you have your family photos taken, Minted printed cards and ornaments are a wonderful way to showcase your cuties and celebrate family during the holidays!

I used to make my Christmas cards and it was great to be able to personalize them for each person. I should do that again. It just seems like there is never time.

Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo onl Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo only to discover it was closed on Mondays.

Thankfully, our family has gotten pretty good at pivoting when plans change. Instead of heading home, we set off on a mile-long walk to Centro Histórico Mérida and turned an unexpected detour into an adventure.

We explored local markets, enjoyed tacos and sopa de lima for lunch, and let the kids burn off energy at a park. The Mérida heat definitely called for a treat, so we stopped for fruit bars that cost just 40 pesos (about $2.50) each. We made it home just in time for Juliet’s nap!

Next time, we’ll check the zoo schedule before we go. But honestly, this unexpected change of plans turned into a pretty great day!

✨ Takeaways:

• Travel helps build resilient kids. When plans change, they learn to adapt, stay positive, and enjoy the adventure anyway.

• Some of our best experiences happen when things don’t go as planned. The zoo will still be there another day! 🦓🐊🦛

• We’re growing in Spanish every day. The kids are becoming more confident with pronunciation, casual phrases, and new vocabulary as we navigate life in Mexico.

💬 What do you want to know about our life in Mexico?

Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been cha Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been challenging and rewarding as we settle into life in Mexico with our 4 kids!

• We’re finding our new normal, discovering favorite stores, trying grocery delivery, getting used to air-drying clothes and doing dishes (no clothes dryer or dishwasher).

 • We’ve almost finished all steps for receiving our family’s permanent residency cards. Praying for successful completion!

 • Also experiencing frequent tropical afternoon downpours, magnificent and soaking! 🌴

 • Being without city water for 20 hours, which impacted washing dishes and taking showers. We used our rooftop water tank sparingly.

 • House hunting & touring several long term rental houses; we hope to find a good fit for our stay-at-home lifestyle and hosting too!

I keep reminding myself that we moved here! We’re not just visiting for a few weeks. 🤯😄

Overall, we’re grateful. ☀️🙂 It’s been a good first week, and we’re excited to continue settling in and discovering what life in Mérida has in store for our family!
