Meow Wolf The Real Unreal, Dallas, Texas

by Katie Wallace | Updated: July 15, 2024

We had a lot of fun visiting Meow Wolf The Real Unreal in Dallas, Texas. This immersive, multimedia experience is fun for adults and kids of all ages! We encountered something new around every corner, and the more we looked, the more we discovered.

We purchased tickets to Meow Wolf for our family of five. I’m excited to share our experience at Meow Wolf as creative content on Create. Play. Travel.

On the surface, Meow Wolf is a fantastic collection of bright and bizarre art. A tour through a seemingly ordinary house leads to an otherworldly dimension which creates more questions than gives answers. Families can spend hours at Meow Wolf exploring and looking at all the artistic details.

First I will say, Meow Wolf spared no detail on colorful visuals everywhere you look. The immersive experience is what sets this family attraction apart from others. I had never seen anything like it before. Upon entering a colorful storefront in the mall, this bright-yet-sinister mural greeted us at the entrance. Not knowing what to expect, we walked through a dark hallway into the main exhibit.

Meow Wolf introduces a story about missing persons and different dimensions of reality. The Meow Wolf Grapevine The Real Unreal experience in Dallas, Texas, presents visitors with a mystery full of clues and hints. What happened to missing family members who once lived in this house? Why are alien elements hidden among common household items? All throughout Meow Wolf, visitors can sift through clues on laptops, look for QR codes, and try to make sense of the wacky visuals to solve a mystery.

The front yard garden at Meow Wolf Grapevine The Real Unreal is fun to explore. A closer look reveals clues such as strange vegetables, curious details, and alien evidence. We thought the visuals were fun to look through. While a bit overwhelming at first, soon we got a sense of the mystery and could enjoy the experience as detailed as we wanted to.

Of course, our kids just liked exploring the house, which is set up as a maze. Closets lead to mysterious hallways, the clothes dryer opens to a slide, and several refrigerator doors offer startling revelations inside.

Visitors can examine unique wall art and photos for clues to the Meow Wolf Grapevine The Real Unreal mystery. On screens throughout the exhibit, we could view text messages, social media posts, and videos left by the missing persons of the home.

We walked through rooms crowded with neon art, which lead to a seemingly normal kitchen, despite creepy food inside the refrigerators.

Honestly, this description of our visit just scratches the surface. We spent about 3 hours at Meow Wolf Grapevine The Real Unreal and primarily enjoyed the visual art. Our kids enjoyed a high level investigation into the mystery. More serious visitors could spend several more hours unveiling all the dynamic elements and clues within this immersive, multimedia experience.

What do you think? Would you enjoy exploring this interactive art display?

Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo onl Cerrado los lunes! 😟☀️ We showed up at the zoo only to discover it was closed on Mondays.

Thankfully, our family has gotten pretty good at pivoting when plans change. Instead of heading home, we set off on a mile-long walk to Centro Histórico Mérida and turned an unexpected detour into an adventure.

We explored local markets, enjoyed tacos and sopa de lima for lunch, and let the kids burn off energy at a park. The Mérida heat definitely called for a treat, so we stopped for fruit bars that cost just 40 pesos (about $2.50) each. We made it home just in time for Juliet’s nap!

Next time, we’ll check the zoo schedule before we go. But honestly, this unexpected change of plans turned into a pretty great day!

✨ Takeaways:

• Travel helps build resilient kids. When plans change, they learn to adapt, stay positive, and enjoy the adventure anyway.

• Some of our best experiences happen when things don’t go as planned. The zoo will still be there another day! 🦓🐊🦛

• We’re growing in Spanish every day. The kids are becoming more confident with pronunciation, casual phrases, and new vocabulary as we navigate life in Mexico.

💬 What do you want to know about our life in Mexico?

Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been cha Hola from Mérida! 🇲🇽☀️ Our first week has been challenging and rewarding as we settle into life in Mexico with our 4 kids!

• We’re finding our new normal, discovering favorite stores, trying grocery delivery, getting used to air-drying clothes and doing dishes (no clothes dryer or dishwasher).

 • We’ve almost finished all steps for receiving our family’s permanent residency cards. Praying for successful completion!

 • Also experiencing frequent tropical afternoon downpours, magnificent and soaking! 🌴

 • Being without city water for 20 hours, which impacted washing dishes and taking showers. We used our rooftop water tank sparingly.

 • House hunting & touring several long term rental houses; we hope to find a good fit for our stay-at-home lifestyle and hosting too!

I keep reminding myself that we moved here! We’re not just visiting for a few weeks. 🤯😄

Overall, we’re grateful. ☀️🙂 It’s been a good first week, and we’re excited to continue settling in and discovering what life in Mérida has in store for our family!
